Every skin shard from a Hextech chest gives you three choices: unlock it with Orange Essence (OE), disenchant it into OE, or put it into a reroll with two others. Here's what each is worth, and a simple way to decide.
Every value in Orange Essence
| Skin price | Unlock shard | Disenchant shard | Disenchant permanent |
|---|---|---|---|
| 520 RP | 220 | 104 | 260 |
| 750 RP | 450 | 150 | 375 |
| 975 RP | 675 | 195 | 488 |
| 1,350 RP | 1,050 | 270 | 675 |
| 1,820 RP | 1,520 | 364 | 910 |
| 2,400 RP | – | – | 1,200 |
| 2,450 RP | – | – | 1,225 |
| 2,775 RP | – | – | 1,388 |
| 3,250 RP | – | – | 1,625 |
Skins above 1,820 RP only exist as permanents. Source: League of Legends Wiki: Hextech Crafting.
The pattern: unlocking costs the RP price minus 300, a shard disenchants for 20% of the price and a permanent for 50%. Each skin's page on lolskins.io shows its own numbers under “Skin shard”.
How rerolling works
Pick three skin shards or permanents and combine them. You get one random permanent skin worth at least 520 RP. You can't choose the champion, pricier skins come up less often, and a reroll occasionally drops a bonus chest and key.
A simple rule for every shard
- You play the champion and the skin is Legacy or rarer: unlock it. You can't just buy it later. Check the rarity on its page first (how to tell if a skin is rare).
- You play the champion and it's Common: unlock it if you like it; otherwise keep the OE for a skin you actually want.
- You don't play the champion: reroll (three for one permanent) if you enjoy the surprise, or disenchant to bank OE.
